It appears there have been instances of tension between some members of the “Friends” cast, particularly Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and David Schwimmer, with rapper Kanye West over various issues.
Jennifer Aniston had previously warned voters against casting their ballots for Kanye West during the presidential election in 2020. In an Instagram post, Aniston voiced her support for the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris ticket and urged voters to consider the significance of the election. She explicitly mentioned that it was not amusing to vote for Kanye, expressing concern about his involvement in the election as an independent candidate.
This resulted in a response from Kanye West, referencing his interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience” and suggesting that Aniston’s warning was a reaction to that interview. Subsequently, a tweet circulated, supposedly stating that “Friends isn’t funny either,” which was attributed to West, causing further controversy.
Courteney Cox engaged in a social media exchange with Kanye West after he criticized “Friends,” stating that he did not find the show funny. Cox posted an Instagram video listening to West’s song “Heartless” but turned it off when she came across his comments about the show. She captioned the post with a reference to “Old Kanye” versus his current persona as Ye, suggesting that the “Old Kanye” would have found “Friends” funny.
David Schwimmer also became involved in a dispute with Kanye West. Schwimmer publicly accused West of being antisemitic after the rapper made controversial comments on Twitter regarding Jewish people. Schwimmer condemned West’s remarks, labeling them as divisive, ignorant, and antisemitic. Moreover, Schwimmer supported a petition urging Adidas to sever ties with West and his Yeezy sneaker collection. Subsequently, Adidas ended its partnership with West following his comments on the “Drink Champs” podcast.
These conflicts between the “Friends” cast members and Kanye West revolved around political opinions, social issues, and comments made by the rapper, causing tensions and public disagreements between the parties involved.
