On Wednesday, Kanye West went on a livestream where he expressed his frustration about not being able to spend enough time with his four children. The rapper, who has had ongoing disagreements with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian over co-parenting, said he’s tired of being separated from their kids: North (11), Saint (9), Chicago (7), and Psalm (5).
“I’mma go get these kids, bro. I’m talking to the lawyers. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t lose my mind and have to get used to not seeing my kids,” Kanye said while dressed all in black and wearing a mask.
A big part of Kanye’s anger came from a recent situation involving his daughter North and a planned music collaboration with rapper Playboi Carti. Kanye said he wasn’t involved in the decision and was against it. According to the Daily Mail, Kanye claimed that Kim, as a white woman, controlled the rights to their children’s names and images and had approached Carti about including North on a song. Kanye felt it was unfair that he wasn’t included on the album while Carti was asking Kim for North’s vocals.
During the livestream, Kanye also criticized other celebrities. He said, “None of these celebrity [racial slur] give a f*** about anything but their next cheeseburger,” and mentioned that he wasn’t getting any support from famous figures like Jay-Z and Beyoncé.
Kanye went on to say, “Why do you have all these Black kids sitting at school… just excited about McDonald’s?” He also said that DJ Akademiks encouraged him to speak out. Kanye said, “[DJ] Akademiks put that battery in my back, bro—because I was in the airport by myself… I’mma go get these kids, man!”
