The legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively has reignited, with Baldoni filing a new complaint accusing Lively of abusing the legal system. The ongoing dispute centers around their film It Ends With Us, with Baldoni accusing Lively of engaging in legal tactics aimed at damaging his business and reputation. According to legal documents obtained by Us Weekly, Baldoni filed a lawsuit on September 27, 2024, against unidentified defendants, alleging a coordinated effort to harm his career.
In the complaint, Baldoni claims that certain individuals, bound by contractual and confidentiality obligations to him, have breached these agreements in ways that have harmed his professional standing. The lawsuit contends that these defendants have acted in bad faith, violating their duty of loyalty and confidentiality.
Baldoni’s legal team, led by attorney Bryan Freedman, strongly condemned the filing, calling it a “sham lawsuit” designed to gain subpoena power without proper oversight. Freedman further argued that this action denied Baldoni’s team the ability to contest the nature and scope of the subpoenas, which he claims was an intentional move to harass and manipulate the legal process.
Freedman also criticized the involvement of Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds’ company, Vanzan, stating that they had no legitimate connection to the case. He referred to the filing as a “gross abuse of process” and asserted that it violated the legal duty of good faith. Freedman emphasized that pursuing a breach of contract against an unidentified party, without any valid connection to the case, was an act done in bad faith and should be considered an abuse of the legal system.
On the other hand, Blake Lively’s legal team has defended the filing, insisting that it was a legitimate legal action meant for investigative purposes. Lively’s lawyers argue that the move was within the bounds of the law and part of a lawful attempt to gather information.
At present, the trial between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively is scheduled to take place on March 9, 2026, though the possibility of a settlement remains. The legal confrontation continues to draw attention as both sides prepare for what promises to be a contentious court battle.
