Jurassic World Rebirth introduces a fresh narrative within the familiar chaos of the dinosaur-filled franchise, and one of the most pressing questions from fans has been whether Scarlett Johansson’s character, Zora Bennett, makes it out alive. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, the film attempts to balance intense action with a new cast and storyline, steering the saga in a new direction while still leaning into the franchise’s classic thrills.
Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennett is a battle-hardened mercenary hired by the pharmaceutical giant ParkerGenix. Her mission: extract genetic material from dinosaurs to aid in developing heart disease treatments. Joining her are Henry Loomis, a palaeontologist played by Jonathan Bailey, and Duncan Kincaid, another mercenary played by Mahershala Ali. Rupert Friend’s Martin Krebs serves as the corporate antagonist with hidden motives, creating tension within the group from the outset.
The story takes a sharp turn early on when the team, hunting a massive Mosasaurus, ends up rescuing Reuben Delgado and his two daughters after their boat is overturned during the operation. While they survive this ordeal, the real danger lies on the island itself—a breeding ground for genetically mutated dinosaurs. The group faces off against winged raptors, hybrid creatures called Mutadons, and the film’s most fearsome predator, the D-rex, a monstrous crossbreed far more dangerous than anything in previous entries.
As chaos unfolds, Krebs betrays the team by attempting to flee with the collected genetic samples, but he meets a brutal end at the jaws of the D-rex. From that point on, it’s a race for survival. Despite overwhelming odds, Zora manages to stay alive. Not only does she outwit and outfight the threats on the island, but she also takes a moral stand. Rather than letting ParkerGenix control the dinosaur DNA for profit, Zora chooses to make the data publicly available. Supported by Loomis, she defies corporate power in favor of global scientific transparency.
While Duncan Kincaid appears to sacrifice himself in a dramatic showdown with the D-rex, he too ultimately survives. In the closing scenes, Zora, Loomis, the Delgado family, and Duncan escape by boat, bringing the narrative to a hopeful conclusion. A small yet poignant moment is shared when young Isabella keeps a baby dinosaur named Dolores, symbolizing a new relationship between humans and prehistoric life.
In short, Zora Bennett not only survives Jurassic World Rebirth but emerges as a bold, principled figure. Her decision to release the dinosaur DNA data ensures the film ends on a note of redemption and responsibility, deviating from the typical corporate exploitation themes of the past. With this new chapter, the franchise sets the stage for future stories with fresh characters, updated stakes, and the same dangerous allure of dinosaurs.
