A judge has dismissed a letter filed by Justin Baldoni accusing Blake Lively of trying to pressure Taylor Swift into publicly supporting Lively. The letter claimed that Lively’s team was pushing Swift to issue a statement backing her and even threatened to share private texts if Swift didn’t comply. But on May 15, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman threw out the letter, calling it “irrelevant” and “improper.” He also warned Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, that if he keeps misusing the court system, he could face penalties.
According to the letter, Lively’s lawyers asked Swift to delete previous messages and pressured her to give a public endorsement. Freedman said he had a source close to Swift who confirmed this during a phone call back in February. But Lively’s camp strongly denied everything. Her spokesperson said the court quickly saw through Freedman’s “irrelevant, improper, and inflammatory accusations” and removed them from the case.
Blake Lively’s lawyer, Mike Gottlieb, called the allegations “categorically false” and said they were based on anonymous sources with no truth behind them. Freedman later submitted an affidavit repeating the claims and said the source told him that Lively’s lawyer even threatened Swift’s legal team about support connected to the Super Bowl. The affidavit also mentioned Lively supposedly has 10 years’ worth of private texts she could release if needed.
This drama comes after Taylor Swift was subpoenaed last week in connection with the lawsuit but her reps insisted she has nothing to do with the movie It Ends with Us.
The legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is expected to go to trial in March 2026. So, this saga isn’t over yet.
