Joy Reid, during a segment on MSNBC’s “The Reid Out” titled “Republicans take credit for stuff they voted against,” had a hot mic moment where she used the f-bomb. While discussing the party’s actions, she mentioned their efforts related to the border crisis and a bipartisan deal tying border policy changes to funding for Ukraine. In a clip of President Joe Biden addressing the border issue, Reid’s mic turned on, and she could be heard saying, “starting another f***ing war.” The context of her comment remains unclear, but some on social media speculated she was referring to Biden.
The proposed deal involves closing the border if 5,000 migrants cross it illegally in a day. On Truth Social, former President Trump urged Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson not to agree to the deal unless it is “perfect.” Immigration is expected to be a significant issue in the 2024 election, where Trump is likely to rematch with Biden.
Later in the show, Reid issued an apology to her audience, acknowledging the hot mic incident. She stated, “I was chatting during a clip that was playing, and you know, we try to keep this show very PG-13, so I just want to apologize to anyone who was listening to my behind-the-scenes chatter. Deeply, deeply apologize for that.”
