Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith have officially ended their marriage on fairly friendly terms, but there’s still some tension when it comes to co-parenting their daughter, Juno—specifically about where she should go to school.

According to legal documents reported by TMZ, the former couple worked with a mediator to come up with a temporary custody schedule for Juno. However, they don’t see eye to eye when it comes to her education.

Jodie has asked the court for permission to pick Juno up from her current elementary school. She’s also hoping to move her to a different school next year. She says she took the time to do her homework, researching the new school, discussing it with Joshua, and even choosing one that’s close to his home to make things easier. But despite all that, Joshua isn’t on board with the school switch and is pushing back against the change.

In their divorce agreement, it was decided that Joshua would pay $2,787 a month in child support. However, he won’t be paying Jodie any spousal support. Now, Jodie is asking the court to make Joshua cover $75,000 in legal fees related to their disagreement over Juno’s schooling.

Their love story began in 2018 at Usher’s birthday party. They were soon spotted together in Los Angeles, sparking dating rumors. By the start of 2019, they were vacationing together in Nicaragua to ring in the new year.

Things moved quickly from there. They secretly got married in December 2019. In early 2020, Jodie was seen out in L.A. showing off her baby bump during a walk with Joshua. Not long after, she confirmed they were expecting a baby girl. She even posted a sweet video on social media showing her belly and wrote, “Can you see her dancing in there? Every time I try to record, she stops.”

Unfortunately, their relationship didn’t last. Jodie filed for divorce in 2023. Just a month later, Joshua made headlines again after confirming he was dating actress Lupita Nyong’o.

So while their marriage may be over and most things have been settled, the schooling disagreement shows that parenting decisions after a divorce can still be a major point of conflict.
