JoJo Siwa recently voiced her disappointment over a joke made by Miley Cyrus during the latter’s appearance at the World Pride event. The moment in question involved a pre-recorded video message from Cyrus, in which the pop star referenced being “in the closet” since sixth grade before joking that she was heading back into it “to get more pretzels and find JoJo Siwa and bring her back out.” While clearly intended as light-hearted humor, the remark didn’t sit well with Siwa, who felt the joke was in poor taste.
Reacting publicly, JoJo Siwa shared a childhood photo from her fifth birthday, which had a Miley Cyrus theme, highlighting how deeply she had admired the singer since her earliest years. In a candid caption, Siwa explained that she took a few days to process her emotions before deciding to speak up. While she acknowledged that she didn’t believe the comment was meant to be malicious, she felt it simply wasn’t a good or necessary joke—particularly not in a context as meaningful as World Pride.
Despite her clear disapproval, Siwa emphasized that she reached out to Miley directly and in good spirit, showing that her intent was to communicate, not to escalate. Miley, in turn, responded with a gracious message that read, “All Love. Always,” followed by heart emojis—indicating that there was no ongoing animosity between the two.
JoJo’s call to lead with love came shortly after she confirmed her relationship with fellow Big Brother contestant Chris Hughes. The two reportedly connected deeply while filming the show and have continued dating since their time in the house came to an end. In speaking out, JoJo not only set a respectful boundary with one of her lifelong idols but also continued to model authenticity and open-heartedness for her fans.
