Joe Keery, best known for his role in Stranger Things, had a close call with his new album The Crux, almost losing it before its official release. The actor, who creates music under the name Djo, shared a story about how he accidentally left his hard drive containing all the songs for his new album in an Uber.

On April 8, during an interview with Deezer, Keery explained how he realized he had left the hard drive in the car and immediately tried to contact the driver. Unfortunately, his phone had died, so he had no choice but to run after the Uber. He chased the car for some time, panting and hoping to catch up, but when the driver finally rolled down the window, Keery discovered it was the wrong cab. He described the moment as “distraught,” worried that someone might find the hard drive and release the songs, as it wasn’t password protected.

Feeling exhausted from the run and sick from the stress, Keery returned to his hotel, charged his phone, and managed to contact the driver. Luckily, the driver found the hard drive under the seat and confirmed that it hadn’t been stolen. Keery was relieved that all the work he had put into his album wasn’t lost.

Keery explained that the album is like a “hotel” for people at crossroads in their lives, reflecting various experiences and emotions. He even dedicated an entire track to his Stranger Things co-star Charlie Heaton, paying tribute to their friendship.

Despite the initial scare, the album is out and getting great reviews, and Keery’s passion for sharing his personal experiences with music is clear.
