Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel responded sharply on Thursday after former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social demanding that ABC take him off the air.
During his monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel mocked Trump’s approval ratings and joked that he’ll leave his show the same day Trump leaves office. “How about this: I’ll go when you go, OK?” Kimmel said. “We’ll be a team. We’ll ride off into the sunset together like Butch Cassidy and the Suntan Kid.”
Trump had posted just after midnight, accusing Kimmel of bias, calling him talentless, and insisting ABC should fire him. Kimmel noted that Trump wrote the message only minutes after the show ended on the East Coast, joking that Trump watches him live every night. “Hi, Mr. President,” he said. “It’s viewers like you who keep us on the air.”
Kimmel also used the moment to swipe at Trump’s current controversies, calling them “the biggest sex scandal in the history of the American presidency.” He mocked Trump’s habit of accusing others of bad ratings and played clips from news outlets covering Trump’s own low approval numbers.
Kimmel said Trump has tried to get him fired countless times and compared the former president’s repeated threats to a neighbor who harasses you so often that you’d get a restraining order. He reminded viewers that Trump also pushed for his removal back in September when Kimmel faced backlash over comments about a murder case tied to a conservative activist.
The White House did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
