Jimmy Fallon is gunning for the Sexiest TV Host title from PEOPLE, but he’s got some stiff competition! On the September 18 episode of *The Tonight Show*, Fallon celebrated his nomination with a playful campaign, jokingly urging his competitors to bow out.
Fallon’s rivals for the title include Seth Meyers, Mario Lopez, and Mark Consuelos. Fallon sarcastically dissed his competition, saying, “I’m up against Seth Meyers, Mario Lopez, and Mark Consuelos. Yuck!” He humorously pitched why he should win, suggesting Meyers, as the “younger dude,” should let “grandpa” Fallon have this one. Fallon even asked Lopez and Consuelos to withdraw from the race, directing a mock serious message to Consuelos, “Remove your name from the ballot,” he said, while looking straight at the camera.
He then joked that Lopez would graciously step aside, saying, “He’ll go, like, out of respect, ‘Jimmy, you got it.’” Fallon capped off his campaign by posing with a PEOPLE tote bag and pretending to walk on the subway, playing up his connection with the magazine.
To top it all off, Fallon drew a humorous parallel between himself and PEOPLE, noting that both recently celebrated their 50th anniversaries. “Look at this. ‘Established 1974.’ You know what else is established in 1974? Me! Are you kidding me? It should be a no-brainer,” he quipped.
Fallon’s lighthearted and self-deprecating pitch aims to win over voters and make his case for the coveted title.
