On the morning of June 11, 2025, BTS members Jimin and Jungkook officially completed their mandatory military service in South Korea. Having enlisted together on December 12, 2023, the two served as active-duty soldiers in the Army’s 5th Infantry Division Artillery Brigade for 18 months. Their long-awaited return marked a major milestone in BTS’ path toward full group reunion, and fans celebrated the moment with warmth and excitement.
After completing the official discharge procedures within their base, Jimin and Jungkook headed to Yeoncheon Public Stadium in Gyeonggi Province. Although no formal event had been organized, the idols stepped out briefly to greet the fans who had gathered early in the morning, many holding signs and banners. The scene was quiet yet emotionally charged, as cheers erupted the moment the two appeared, each holding a large bouquet of flowers.
Standing in front of cameras for the first time in months, both Jimin and Jungkook seemed slightly reserved but deeply happy. They gave a crisp military salute and shouted “Dan-gyeol!”—a Korean term used by soldiers to express unity and camaraderie. Jungkook addressed the crowd with a grateful message, thanking everyone for showing up despite the early hour. He playfully admitted feeling a bit shy since it had been so long since he faced cameras, and he hadn’t even worn makeup.
In his heartfelt message, Jungkook also acknowledged the people he served with. He expressed gratitude toward senior soldiers, juniors, discharged comrades, and the officers who supported him and Jimin during their service. His tone was warm and genuine, as he promised fans he would gradually share stories from his military experience through future live broadcasts.
With Jimin and Jungkook’s return, only SUGA remains in service, expected to complete his alternative duty on June 21. RM and V were discharged just a day earlier, on June 10. Now, with six members back, BTS’ long military hiatus—ongoing since late 2022—is almost officially over. The excitement among fans continues to build, as the group’s long-awaited reunion comes into view.
