“The Light Fantastic” is inspired by a true story and follows Jason (played by Irvine), a gay firefighter in his 30s who dreams of becoming a professional ballroom dancer. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Blackpool, the film captures Jason’s journey as he navigates the complexities of his identity and challenges the conventions of ballroom dancing, all while training under the watchful eye of his traditional instructor, Reynolds (portrayed by Rupert Everett).
