Jennifer Lawrence recently shared her thoughts on missing out on a major role in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. During a podcast appearance on January 12, the 35-year-old actress revealed her belief that she lost the part of Sharon Tate to Margot Robbie due to a harsh reaction from the internet. She recalled that many people online claimed she wasn’t “pretty enough” to play the real-life actress, a sentiment that was even echoed at the time by Sharon Tate’s sister, Debra. Lawrence joked that she has told the story for so long she is not sure if she’s misremembering it, or if Tarantino simply never considered her while the internet just went out of its way to be mean.

Beyond past missed opportunities, Lawrence has quite a bit to celebrate in 2026. She recently earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Drama for her intense performance in Die My Love, which was directed by Lynne Ramsay. The film features Lawrence as a mother struggling with postpartum depression and premiered with a long standing ovation at Cannes. While she was a favorite during the awards season, she made headlines at the Golden Globes not just for her nomination, but for a stunning sheer floral gown that went viral on social media.

Fans of The Hunger Games can also look forward to seeing Lawrence return to the screen as Katniss Everdeen later this year. She has essentially confirmed a cameo in the upcoming prequel, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which is scheduled for release on November 20. The film follows a young Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games and features a massive ensemble cast including Joseph Zada, Mckenna Grace, and Ralph Fiennes. Lawrence and her former co-star Josh Hutcherson are expected to appear as their original characters in an epilogue that ties the prequel to the main series.

Looking further ahead, Lawrence is set to reunite with her Don’t Look Up co-star Leonardo DiCaprio for a new project with director Martin Scorsese. The film, a psychological ghost story titled What Happens at Night, is based on a novel by Peter Cameron and is scheduled to begin filming in early 2026. It follows a couple who travels to a small European town to adopt a baby, only to find themselves trapped in a surreal and unsettling hotel. With Scorsese producing her recent work and directing her next, Lawrence’s career continues to reach new heights despite any past Tarantino snubs.
