Jeff Bezos has announced that he is leaving Seattle after nearly 30 years and will be moving to Miami.
The Amazon founder announced that he will be ditching the birthplace of the e-commerce giant, in a heartfelt post on Instagram on Thursday, which was accompanied by an old video of him giving tour of the company’s first office in Seattle.
The billionaire businessman, who has chosen the warmth of Miami, stated that the reason behind this move, is to be with his parents, who recently got settled in Miami, where Bezos grew up.
Moreover, his space exploration company, Blue Origin, has its operations moving increasingly shifting to Cape Canaveral, Florida, and that he and fiancee Lauren Sanchez “love” Miami.
Along with the video he post on his Instagram handle, he wrote, “I’ve lived in Seattle longer than I’ve lived anywhere else and have so many amazing memories here. As exciting as the move is, it’s an emotional decision for me. Seattle, you will always have a piece of my heart.” He also mentioned that the place has been his home since 1994, when he started Amazon from his garage.
