Jason Kelce had an unforgettable experience with his daughters at their first Taylor Swift concert, despite viral photos suggesting otherwise. The retired NFL star attended the show at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on October 18 with his wife, Kylie Kelce, and their daughters, Wyatt, 5, and Ellie, 3.
Jason Kelce’s family night out
During the October 23 episode of their “New Heights” podcast, Jason’s brother, Travis Kelce, expressed his envy for not being at the concert with them. Jason quickly addressed rumors about falling asleep during the show. “I did not take a nap,” he insisted while Travis joked about his alleged slumber during “the greatest show that’s ever been on stage.”
Jason was all praise for Swift’s performance, comparing it to his experiences at two Eras concerts in London earlier in the summer. “This Miami show was incredible,” he said. “The rain and everything, dude, it was on another level.”
The concert was filled with special moments for the Kelce family. Jason texted Travis midway through to share how Swift was “killing it” in the rain. He recalled the crowd’s reaction when Swift performed songs from her “Reputation” era, describing it as an unforgettable atmosphere.
Footage and photos of Jason enjoying the concert surfaced on social media, where he was seen holding one daughter’s hand and dancing to Swift’s music. However, some fans jokingly suggested he looked like he fell asleep. Addressing the now-famous photo, Jason explained, “I was sitting down so I’m on the same level with her. We’re out in the middle of the open.”
In the moment
Jason elaborated on his seating choice, saying that without a private suite, he felt like he was “in a fishbowl” with everyone watching him. “I’m just feeling it,” he said. “I’m tapping my thigh and I’m just in the moment listening to the song.” He expressed disbelief at the viral picture and emphasized he was far from asleep.
In a humorous exchange, Travis joked about his brother simply “feeling the groove” as Swift performed. Jason reflected on his past as a jazz musician, noting how closing his eyes helped him absorb the moment.
This concert marked a significant occasion for the Kelce family, especially as it was the first time they all attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour concerts since Travis began dating the pop star in 2023. Jason previously praised Swift’s performances, acknowledging the energy and enthusiasm of her fans.
As Jason wrapped up his reflections on the concert, he encouraged Swift to “keep killing it” as she nears the end of her tour, stating, “Everyone had a good time… Miami was another level of it.”
