James Gunn, the creator of the Peacemaker series, has provided an update on the second season, sharing that he is almost finished writing the eighth episode. Gunn mentioned in a Threads post that most of his week was spent on pre-production work for Superman and writing for Peacemaker Season 2 in the evenings and mornings. He revealed that he spent the entire weekend almost finishing episode 8 of Peacemaker. Gunn had previously mentioned that the other seven episodes of the second season were already written.
While Gunn is actively working on Peacemaker Season 2, he also has a significant role in planning out the new DC Universe for Warner Bros. alongside Peter Safran. Gunn is set to direct Superman: Legacy, the first theatrical release in the new DC Universe, featuring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel. The film is slated to begin filming in March, and its release date is set for July 11, 2025.
Previously, Gunn had indicated that the production of Peacemaker Season 2 would not commence until he completed work on Superman: Legacy. Given the timeline for the film’s filming and release, it remains to be seen when cameras will start rolling for the second season of Peacemaker.
Peacemaker follows the character Christopher Smith, introduced in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, as he navigates a mission assigned by Amanda Waller to uncover a mystery involving an alien race on Earth. The first season concluded with hints of more challenges for Peacemaker and his team. The second season is expected to continue Christopher’s journey in the evolving DC Universe. As of now, Peacemaker Season 2 does not have an official release date.
