Jacob Elordi was all set to take a break from acting—but that changed quickly when director Emerald Fennell reached out. In a recent interview with IndieWire, the Euphoria star shared that Fennell texted him directly about her next project, and he couldn’t resist. “I was going to take a break for a while,” he said, “and then Emerald just very simply texted me, and you can’t run from that text.” Elordi was offered the role without even needing to audition.
That role turned out to be none other than Heathcliff in a new film adaptation of Wuthering Heights, directed by Fennell and starring Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw. The movie, based on Emily Brontë’s classic novel, recently wrapped filming in the U.K. and is set for a February 2026 release.
The film is produced by Robbie’s own company, LuckyChap Entertainment, and will be distributed by Warner Bros. It dives into the passionate and destructive love between Heathcliff and Catherine, and how their bond tears through generations of their families.
Elordi had high praise for his co-star, calling Robbie “a livewire” and “a beautiful actor” who gave everything to the role. Fans are already buzzing about the pair’s chemistry, especially after Robbie’s blockbuster success with Barbie and Elordi’s rising fame from Saltburn and Euphoria.
Despite his original plan to rest, Elordi’s schedule is now packed. He’s currently filming Season 3 of Euphoria and will appear later this year in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Robbie, meanwhile, is starring opposite Colin Farrell in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, set to release in September.
