Is Wicked leaving Peacock soon?

The hit movie adaptation of the beloved musical Wicked is set to leave Peacock’s streaming platform on July 20, according to a recent update by the service. Featuring standout performances from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the film enjoyed a successful theatrical run last fall and has remained one of Peacock’s most-watched titles since its streaming debut in March 2025.

Peacock has now listed both the standard version and the sing-along edition of Wicked on its official “Leaving Soon” section, signalling the end of its exclusive run on the platform. This move, however, is not unexpected.

The transition is part of Universal’s existing streaming agreement with Amazon Prime Video. Under this deal, Peacock has exclusive access to new Universal movies during the first four months of their post-theatrical release. Once this window closes, films like Wicked shift to Amazon Prime Video, where they remain for the next 10 months.

So, starting July 20, Wicked will no longer be available on Peacock and will stream exclusively on Prime Video.

Wicked sets streaming records before exit

When Wicked premiered on Peacock on March 21, it quickly climbed the streaming charts. It became the most-watched “Pay 1” film in Peacock’s history, surpassing even previous record-holders like Oppenheimer. The strong performance further solidified Peacock as a competitive player in the post-theatrical streaming space, at least during the early release window.

The excitement around Wicked now shifts toward its highly anticipated sequel, Wicked: For Good, which will hit theatres on November 21. The sequel continues the story, drawing from the dramatic second act of the stage production. A new trailer has already been released, showcasing high-stakes moments and powerful musical performances. Key cast members are confirmed to return, including Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz.

Alongside Wicked, several other films are also scheduled to leave Peacock in the coming weeks.

Marrowbone – Leaving July 13

This 2017 psychological horror film, written and directed by Sergio G. Sánchez, features a talented cast including George MacKay, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Mia Goth, and Matthew Stagg. The story follows a group of siblings who flee to rural Maine after their mother’s death, only to discover something sinister in their inherited home. After leaving Peacock, it will still be available for streaming on Hulu in the U.S.

Jaws Franchise – Begins Leaving July 14

The iconic shark thriller sequel Jaws 2 will be removed from Peacock on July 14, with the rest of the franchise, Jaws, Jaws 3, and Jaws: The Revenge, also scheduled to depart later in the month. Released in 1978, Jaws 2 continues the saga of Police Chief Martin Brody (played by Roy Scheider) as he once again confronts the threat of a killer great white shark off the shores of Amity Island. Despite a rocky production, it remains the most critically accepted of the Jaws sequels.

Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs – Leaving July 15

This 2019 animated family film from South Korea offers a playful twist on fairy tales, blending elements of Snow White and The Red Shoes. The film features the voices of Chloe Grace Moretz, Sam Claflin, and Patrick Warburton and tells the story of a group of cursed princes-turned-dwarfs and a young woman in disguise. It’s a journey centred on self-acceptance, identity, and love.
