Remember the chaos when Tobey Maguire showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home? Fans went absolutely wild, and it’s been a hot topic ever since. Now, there’s new buzz that Spider-Man 4 could actually happen with Tobey back in the suit. Mattson Tomlin, who co-wrote The Batman and The Batman 2, recently teased about it, saying he “hasn’t gotten a no yet,” which basically means the door is still open.

Tobey last wore the iconic red-and-blue in No Way Home (2021) when he teamed up with Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland in that multiverse showdown. Before that, his original trilogy ended with Spider-Man 3 in 2007, the one with the infamous emo dance scene. A fourth film was originally planned for 2011, but creative differences shut it down, and the franchise rebooted with Andrew Garfield.

Tomlin has said he’d love to explore Tobey’s Peter Parker as a husband and father, juggling family life alongside fighting crime. When a fan asked for an update, he replied that things are “slow and steady” and complicated, but no one has said no yet.

Sam Raimi, who directed the original trilogy, mentioned in 2022 that he’d be open to directing another Spider-Man movie. Kirsten Dunst, who played Mary Jane Watson, also expressed interest in revisiting the characters as parents.

Nothing is officially confirmed yet. Politics and planning make these things tricky. But with the right people involved and talks happening, there’s still hope for Tobey fans.
