Unfortunately, there will not be a second season of The Trunk, an original Netflix series (K-drama), as of this date, March 2026.

The show is a melodrama produced based on a novel written by Kim Ryeo-ryeong, which began airing on November 29, 2024, with an eight-episode first run of the entire season. The plot centers around a contract marriage between two people and follows their uncovering of the dark history surrounding the event of the strange trunk washing ashore. The series concludes with a definitive but open-ended conclusion, yet still provides a sense of resolution and completion; the answer to each of the main characters’ respective traumas, healing emotionally as well as physically, and being together again was as important as finding the cause of each other’s inflicted suffering.

To date, Netflix has not confirmed that there are any pending plans for a second season of The Trunk. Based on resources such as Netflix Tudum, ComingSoon.net, The Review Geek, and Lifestyle Asia, no formal announcement regarding the renewal or cancellation of The Trunk has been made; all sources report that there has been no movement since late 2024 to develop a sequel or any semblance of direction toward a second season. Over one year has elapsed since the first airing without any updates.

In recent years, Netflix has rarely renewed a K-drama for a second season. It has primarily produced one-time limited series instead of multiple-season formats. This especially holds for anthology-style and novel-based stories (like the last). In fan discussions on platforms such as Reddit and other social media, fans have experienced mixed reactions towards whether they would like to see it return. However, many fans have stated that they appreciated the fact that it had a total of 8 episodes and that they did enjoy the story, but at the same time, they were not necessarily requesting another season.

While some viral videos on YouTube and TikTok have attempted to hype up “Season 2” of The Trunk, they are mostly speculative and fan-made. Unless Netflix changes its mind (which is unlikely given how much time has passed and no new content being produced), The Trunk will remain a one-season K-drama.
