In a black-and-white screenshot posted to his Instagram Story, Bieber showed himself on FaceTime, grinning while wearing a backwards cap. Along with the image, he wrote: “This fool never sees my facetimessss” — clearly a joking reference to Stevie Wonder’s blindness. While the comment raised a few eyebrows, it was clearly meant in good fun.
There’s no indication that Stevie Wonder took offense — in fact, he hasn’t responded publicly, suggesting the two have a friendly relationship and a shared sense of humor. To balance the joke, Bieber added a sweet touch by playing Wonder’s classic track Overjoyed in the background of the story, perhaps to ensure the singer “heard” the message if not saw it.
For those unfamiliar, Wonder — a Grammy-winning icon known for songs like Ribbon in the Sky and Superstition — has been blind since infancy. He and Bieber have crossed musical paths before, performing together at a charity concert in 2011 and later on The X Factor stage.
