Despite the shared surname and notable careers in Broadway, Anthony Rapp and Reneé Rapp are not related. Anthony Rapp, a seasoned and recognizable star in Broadway, has been a prominent figure for decades, known for his roles in Rent as Mark Cohen, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown as Charlie Brown, If/Then as Lucas, and his one-man show based on his memoir, Without You. His extensive career also includes appearances in nearly 30 films, including the film adaptation of Rent, as well as 20 television shows, such as Star Trek: Discovery and 13 Reasons Why.
On the other hand, Reneé Rapp, who is almost 30 years younger than Anthony, has been making a name for herself in the Broadway scene. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Regina George in the stage production of Mean Girls, along with roles in Spring Awakening and 2021’s Sisgendered. Outside of Broadway, Reneé has showcased her talent with a studio album and nearly a dozen released singles.
Despite the lack of a familial connection, the two Rapps share similarities in their Broadway careers, with both having left a mark on the industry. While they are not related by blood, their common ground in the world of theater and entertainment could potentially make them friends if they were to cross paths, given their shared experiences and passions.
