In One Piece, Oda has intentionally kept details about the Straw Hats’ families sparse, which adds to the mystery and intrigue of the series. For instance, the identity of Luffy’s mother remains a secret, as Oda believes mothers would disapprove of Luffy’s adventurous lifestyle.
Is Queen really Franky’s father in ‘One Piece?’
When it comes to Franky’s family background, there’s been some buzz online about whether Queen could be his father. This theory mostly stems from the Vivre Cards, which are like character profiles that give extra info about characters and places in the One Piece world. According to Queen’s Vivre Card, he had a child 36 years ago—exactly when Franky was born. The card also mentions that Queen left his child 26 years ago to join Kaidou’s Beast Pirates. Franky was 10 when he was abandoned by his parents, which matches up with the timeline from Queen’s card.
This alignment of dates and events has led many fans to speculate that Queen might be Franky’s father. However, there’s no official confirmation from Oda. While the Vivre Cards are often overseen by Oda, they can sometimes contain outdated or incorrect information. For instance, one card incorrectly labeled Momonosuke’s Devil Fruit as a SMILE, which was later corrected by Oda.
So, while the timing and details seem to fit, there’s no concrete proof that Queen is Franky’s father. We also haven’t seen any interaction between them in the series, which makes it unclear if Oda intended this connection. For now, we’ll have to wait for further clarification, possibly from an SBS (Shitsumon o Boshū Suru? or “I’m Taking Questions”) session, to find out if this theory holds any water. If it turns out to be true, it might have added an extra layer to the Wano arc that we missed out on.
