The official cast for Love Island 2025 was just announced recently, and fans were getting excited to see all the new faces entering the famous villa. But now, even before the show has started, there’s already a big change: one of the contestants has dropped out.

The contestant’s name is Kyle Ashman. He’s 23 years old and works as a water operative, basically someone who works in water services. He was supposed to be one of the people entering the Love Island villa later this month, but that’s no longer happening.

ITV, the TV channel that airs Love Island, confirmed that Kyle will no longer be taking part in the show. This came after a report from The Sun newspaper, which claimed that Kyle had been questioned by police about a serious incident, a machete attack that happened in Stafford.

Why did Love Island’s Kyle Ashman drop out already?

Now, to make things clear: Kyle was not charged with anything. The police spoke to him during their investigation, but that doesn’t mean he did anything wrong. It was more like he was being asked questions, not being arrested or blamed.

Kyle gave a statement to RadioTimes.com, where he said he was fully open and honest with the police during the investigation. He said, “I fully cooperated with the police and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident.” He also added that he’s not a violent person, and that anyone who thinks he is, is getting the wrong idea about him.

Even though he hasn’t been accused or charged with anything, he will still not be part of this year’s Love Island cast. ITV released an official statement saying:

“For personal reasons, Kyle will not be entering the Love Island Villa as planned.” So while the police situation may have raised some eyebrows, the reason ITV gave was simply “personal reasons.”

Because of Kyle’s exit, he won’t be joining the rest of the cast, which includes Sophie Lee, who is an author, Dejon Noel-Williams, a personal trainer, and Tommy Bradley, a gardener. These contestants are still expected to enter the villa as planned.

As of now, ITV hasn’t said whether they’re going to find someone new to replace Kyle, or if they’ll just move ahead with one fewer contestant.

So to sum it up, one of the new Love Island guys has left before the season even started, police were involved in a past incident but he wasn’t charged, and ITV says he’s not joining due to personal reasons. And now fans are waiting to see if a replacement will be announced.
