The Wayfarer Foundation, co-founded by actor-director Justin Baldoni and philanthropist Steve Sarowitz in 2021, is officially shutting down. Sarowitz announced the closure on Instagram, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the foundation’s board, staff, donors, and partners for their contributions over the past four years.
The foundation, known for its work supporting economic development, gender equality, religious harmony, and youth empowerment, will honor all existing grant commitments as it winds down operations over the coming weeks.
Sarowitz emphasized that while the organization is closing, his personal commitment to philanthropy remains unwavering, and he intends to continue impactful work individually.
Though the official reason for the shutdown wasn’t disclosed, speculation links it to the ongoing legal battle between Baldoni and Blake Lively. Baldoni filed a lawsuit against Lively alleging extortion and defamation, which many believe has affected the foundation’s future.
