After initial reports that Jeremy Renner had turned down an offer to reprise his role as Hawkeye, the American Hustle star has now clarified his stance, expressing strong interest in returning to the MCU archer’s role.
In a candid interview with Josh Horowitz, Renner confirmed there’s truth to the rumors about Hawkeye Season 2, which may take on a Raid-style action approach. While some story and production details are still being finalized, Renner emphasized that he would “never say no” to playing Hawkeye again.
Renner also shared the personal significance of the role beyond the screen: his work as Hawkeye fuels his passion for his RennerVation Foundation, which supports foster children and at-risk youth. He said portraying Hawkeye gives kids “a sense of pride, a face they can look up to, and a strong figure to learn from.”
Previously, Renner reportedly declined the Season 2 offer because the producers proposed “half the money” he earned for Season 1. However, this latest update suggests he’s eager to revisit the character, especially to continue supporting his foundation’s mission.
