Esposito initially revealed his MCU involvement at CCXP in May, teasing a sooner-than-expected appearance and promising a role beyond imagination. Further elaborating at the 2024 Phoenix Fan Fusion, Esposito debunked speculation about portraying Professor X or voicing Norman Osborn in “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.” Instead, he dropped a bombshell hinting at a live-action role with a subsequent series:
“The MCU has knocked on my door and it’s a role you won’t predict. It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.”
Esposito’s interaction with a fan who suggested he’d make an excellent Doctor Doom added fuel to the speculation. Encouraging the crowd to manifest his casting into reality, Esposito’s cryptic remarks hinted at the possibility of appearing in a post-credits scene before headlining his own Disney Plus series. Coincidentally, rumors have circulated about Victor Von Doom being introduced in “The Fantastic Four’s” post-credits scene before leading into a streaming show.
Considering Esposito’s past dynamic with Pedro Pascal in “The Mandalorian,” where they portrayed nemeses, it wouldn’t be surprising for the MCU to capitalize on their chemistry once again.
