Exploring the wasteland in the Fallout series has always been a solitary adventure until the release of Fallout 76, which introduced the opportunity to team up with friends. Although the game had a rocky start, continued support has significantly improved the experience, making it a fantastic game for co-op exploration and quests. However, cross-platform play, which has become more common in recent years, was not a standard feature when Fallout 76 was released. Here’s what you need to know about cross-platform play in Fallout 76.
Is Fallout 76 cross-platform?
Fallout 76 does not support full cross-platform play. Cross-platform functionality is limited to certain conditions:
- Xbox and PC Cross-Play: Players on Xbox can play with PC players, but only if the PC players are accessing the game through Game Pass.
- PlayStation and Steam: If you are playing on a PlayStation console or purchased the game on Steam, you are restricted to playing with others on the same platform.
Given the time that has passed since the launch of Fallout 76, it is unlikely that full cross-platform support will be added in the future. However, if Bethesda decides to implement this feature, we will update this guide accordingly.
For now, to enjoy the wasteland with friends on different systems, you must ensure that your platforms are compatible under the current cross-play limitations.
