Is Dragon Ball Super returning for season 2?

It’s honestly hard to believe that it’s been 10 whole years since Akira Toriyama and Toei Animation first introduced Dragon Ball Super to the world back in 2015. The series ended with an epic and emotional final battle featuring Goku, Frieza, and Android 17, and while many fans were happy with that ending, others have been wondering if there’s more to come.

The latest addition to the Dragon Ball Super story was a special one-shot manga chapter that came out in February 2025. It acted as a short prequel to the movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and focused on Goten, Trunks, and a character called Clean God. It wasn’t very long, but it gave us a little peek into their lives and reminded fans why they love the series so much.

Many people hoped that this one-shot meant a new season of Dragon Ball Super could be on the way. There were especially strong rumours that something might be announced after Dragon Ball: DAIMA wrapped up.

DAIMA finished airing in February 2025, too, but since then, there hasn’t been any official news or announcements about a second season for either Super or DAIMA.

So, is this really the end for Dragon Ball Super? Maybe not. The future still feels wide open, and there’s always hope that something new is quietly being prepared behind the scenes. Let’s take a closer look at everything we know (and what we can hope for) when it comes to Dragon Ball Super Season 2.

Will there be a Dragon Ball Super season 2?

It looks like there might be hope for Dragon Ball Super season 2, but nothing is confirmed just yet.

In an interview on the official Dragon Ball website, a staff member from Toei Animation Philippines, Florence Jay Dominguito, shared some thoughts about the future of the series. They said, “As a fan, I’m looking forward to new movies and merchandise. I’m also excited about the new anime that will continue Dragon Ball Super.”

This made fans super excited! But hold on, some people pointed out that there might’ve been a small mistake in the translation. Japanese translator Ken Xyro clarified on Twitter (now called X) that what Dominguito said was: “I’m also excited to see if there will be a new continuation of Dragon Ball Super’s TV anime.”

So basically, they didn’t confirm anything. They were just saying they’re hoping for it, just like the rest of us.

Dragon Ball DAIMA has now ended, and so far, there’s been no official word about a second season of Dragon Ball Super. If anything new gets announced, we’ll be sure to update you right away with all the latest news.

Who will be in the Dragon Ball Super season 2 cast?
