The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing a tough test in Week 4 against a strong Minnesota Vikings defense. They need their top wide receiver, DK Metcalf, to have a big game. Through the first three weeks, Metcalf has been the Steelers’ leading receiver, catching 10 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Only running back Jaylen Warren has more receiving yards on the team entering Sunday.

Metcalf is active, healthy, and on the field, but he got off to a quiet start in the Week 4 matchup. On the Steelers’ first drive, quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked on the opening play, which led to a quick three-and-out. The Steelers’ offensive line struggled to protect Rodgers, leaving him little time to get the ball to Metcalf. Because of the slow start, Metcalf wasn’t targeted early, even though he is their main receiving threat.

UPDATE: Metcalf finally got his first catch on the team’s second offensive series. It went for 15 yards, giving the Steelers at least one successful connection with their top wide receiver.

Even with that first reception, the Steelers need to do a better job protecting Rodgers. If the quarterback continues to face heavy pressure, it will be hard for Metcalf to get open and make an impact. The Vikings’ defense is strong, and the Steelers’ offense will need more consistent execution for Metcalf to have the kind of game the team is hoping for.

In short, Metcalf is on the field and ready, but the combination of a slow start and pressure on Rodgers has kept him from making a big early impact. As the game continues, Pittsburgh will need to get him involved to take advantage of his talent and keep the offense moving.
