Survival games come in all kinds, but none are quite like Ark: Survival Evolved. Unlike games like Minecraft, where you can build and explore, Ark lets you tame and ride realistic dinosaurs, even though it’s set on a different planet with Earth-like creatures. You’re thrown into a dangerous world where you’ll have to deal with all sorts of threats. Because Ark is an online game, you’ll eventually run into other players. They could be helpful allies or total enemies who might destroy everything you’ve worked for. It’s a good idea to team up with friends, just like you would in games like Rust.
Ark is available on many platforms, but how well can you all play together? Is it truly cross-platform?
Unfortunately, Ark isn’t fully cross-platform. You can only play with others if you’re on specific systems. Right now, Xbox and PC players can join the same servers, and mobile players on iOS and Android can play together too. However, PlayStation players can’t play with anyone from other platforms.
As for cross-progression—where you can pick up where you left off on different systems—the situation is similar. You can only transfer your progress between Xbox and PC. If you start on PlayStation or switch to it, you’ll need to start your game from scratch again.
