Angelina Jolie has decided to stop pursuing access to FBI documents related to an alleged incident involving her ex-husband Brad Pitt that she claims occurred in 2016 during a private flight. Back in 2021, Jolie had filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, using the name “Jane Doe,” to obtain these records.

According to *People*, Jolie ended her legal efforts on September 25, 2023. The documents she was seeking, which were heavily censored, reportedly detailed a dispute between Pitt and Jolie on September 14, 2016. At the time, the FBI and the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services were investigating Pitt for allegedly yelling at and physically handling one of their children during the flight, though Pitt has always denied these accusations. By the end of 2016, both investigations cleared him of any wrongdoing.

Jolie says this incident occurred just weeks before she filed for divorce, which brought an end to their marriage that began in 2005. Even after their split, the couple remained embroiled in legal battles over the custody of their six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox, all of whom were present on the plane when the alleged altercation took place.

In a separate 2022 legal case related to the former couple’s vineyard and wine business, Jolie accused Pitt of choking one of their children and striking another during the same 2016 plane incident.

Jolie’s lawyer, Amanda Kramer, emphasized the importance of victims having access to official records from federal agencies when dealing with traumatic events. Kramer explained that Jolie had been “stonewalled” in her attempts to obtain these FBI documents, which led her to take legal action. However, on September 25, Kramer submitted the final paperwork, marking the end of Jolie’s pursuit for the records.
