So, it’s finally June, which means Marvel’s long-awaited show Ironheart is officially coming out this month on Disney+. And wow, it’s been a long wait.
Marvel first talked about making this show five years ago. Since then, the main character, Riri Williams, made her first appearance in the Marvel movies with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever back in 2022. Now, she’s back, this time as the lead of her own series.
In the story, Riri heads back to her hometown of Chicago after spending some time at the famous university MIT. She’s not just bringing herself; she’s also rocking a new high-tech suit. As she settles back in, she’ll meet all kinds of interesting and wild characters, including a superpowered crime boss known as The Hood.
This show is also important because it’s the last Marvel TV show in what’s known as Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The last movie in this phase was Thunderbolts, and now Ironheart is wrapping things up on the TV side.
If you scroll down, you’ll find everything we currently know about the show, like who’s in the cast, what the trailer shows, and what the executive producer Ryan Coogler (yep, the guy behind Black Panther) has said. He’s even compared Ironheart to other popular Marvel projects like Daredevil: Born Again and Doctor Strange.
Ironheart release date
Ironheart is finally dropping on June 24, 2025 on Disney+ in most places, and June 25, 2025 in the UK. And guess what? It’s starting off strong with three full episodes releasing at once!
It’s been three whole years since we first met Riri Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which came out in November 2022. So yeah, it’s been a long wait, but hey, better late than never, right?
While you’re counting down the days, you can also take a look at some of the best shows already streaming on Disney Plus to keep yourself entertained until Ironheart lands.
Ironheart episode schedule
Marvel’s Ironheart is set to kick off with a big three-episode premiere on June 24, 2025. After that, the rest of the episodes are expected to drop one at a time every week, but nothing has been fully confirmed by Disney just yet.
Here’s what the release schedule looks like for now:
-
Episode 1 – June 24, 2025
-
Episode 2 – June 24, 2025
-
Episode 3 – June 24, 2025
-
Episode 4 – July 1, 2025 *
-
Episode 5 – July 8, 2025 *
-
Episode 6 – July 15, 2025 *
(*Dates with a star mean they’re not 100% confirmed.)
All three of the premiere episodes are expected to go live at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET, so it’s likely the remaining ones will follow that same timing.
Now, here’s where things get a little uncertain: there’s a rumour going around that the last three episodes might be dropped all at once instead of releasing week by week. This would be similar to what Disney+ did with Andor, another show where they released content in bigger batches rather than stretching it out weekly.
Why would they do this? Well, Disney might be waiting to see how many people watch the first few episodes before deciding the best way to release the rest. Releasing the show in two big chunks, kind of like a two-part movie, might keep people more interested than dragging it out weekly, where viewers often start to lose interest halfway through.
That said, based on past Marvel shows (which are usually six episodes long), the weekly release format still seems more likely. But once the premiere drops, we’ll probably get a clearer picture of what Disney+ has planned.
Is there an Ironheart trailer
So far, we’ve only gotten one trailer for Ironheart, but it already gives us a lot to think about.
In the trailer, we see Riri Williams teaming up with a mysterious guy named Parker Robbins (played by Anthony Ramos), who goes by the name The Hood. But things don’t look totally safe or friendly, Riri’s family and friends seem worried. They warn her that she might be getting herself into something dangerous.
We also get a cool look at Riri building and flying in a brand-new Ironheart suit, which shows off just how smart and capable she really is.
Executive producer Ryan Coogler (yep, the guy behind Black Panther) gave us some insight into the show’s deeper themes. He explained that Ironheart is really about what can happen when someone’s ambition, like wanting to prove yourself or change the world, gets out of control. He said:
“It really highlights what happens when that ambition goes unchecked. What kind of price do you pay?”
Coogler also described the show’s style as a mix of two different Marvel worlds. On one hand, it’s a “street-level” show, like Daredevil, where characters (heroes and villains alike) are just trying to survive and figure things out with limited resources. But on the other hand, it also taps into magical and supernatural Marvel stuff, like what you see in Doctor Strange or WandaVision.
So, you’ve got this wild combo of gritty real-world struggle and magical chaos, and Riri is stuck right in the middle of it.
Ironheart cast: Who can we expect to see?
Just like Marvel shows Loki and Agatha All Along, Ironheart won’t just focus on one main character, it’s going to be more of a team or ensemble story, where multiple characters play important roles.
The cast is shaping up to be pretty impressive, too. Some of the actors come from big-name projects like the hit musical Hamilton, the emotional drama series This Is Us, and even the Star Wars universe. So expect a mix of powerful performances and familiar faces helping to bring this new Marvel story to life.
The cast is as follows:
- Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams
- Anji White as Ronnie Williams
- Anthony Ramos as Parker Robbins/The Hood
- Manny Montana as Cousin John
- Lyric Ross as Natalie Washington
- Matthew Elam as Xavier Washington
- Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy
- Shea Couleé as Slug
- Jim Rash as the Dean of MIT, reprising his role from Captain America: Civil War
- Shakira Barrera as TBC
- Paul Calderón as TBC
- Zoe Terakes as TBC
- Harper Anthony as TBC
- Cree Summer as TBC
- Sonia Denis as TBC
- Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola as TBC
- Regan Aliyah as TBC
- Sacha Baron Cohen as TBC
Even though the main cast for Ironheart looks pretty much set, remember, this is Marvel we’re talking about. So don’t be surprised if some familiar faces from other MCU movies and shows pop up in surprise cameos. Marvel loves a good twist!
There’s also a big rumour going around that actor Sacha Baron Cohen might be playing the infamous villain Mephisto in the series. But so far, Marvel hasn’t officially said anything, so take that with a pinch of salt.
Of course, we’ll let you know as soon as any more big names get confirmed. And if you need a refresher or want to watch the Marvel Universe in the right order, we’ve also got a complete guide on how to watch all the Marvel movies and shows from the beginning.
Ironheart plot details
We still don’t know everything about what the story of Ironheart will be, but we’ve gotten a few clues about what to expect.
From the trailer, we see that Anthony Ramos plays a character named The Hood (real name: Parker Robbins), who becomes a sort of mentor to Riri Williams. But he’s definitely not your typical good guy, in fact, he seems a little shady. Riri’s family and friends are clearly worried about her getting close to him, and they warn her she might be putting herself in danger.
Back in 2022 at the D23 event, Ramos described Parker as a guy who’s always felt like an outsider. He said:
“I think Parker almost is a guy who was a misfit,” Ramos said “He wants to take in other misfits and show the world that you looked at us as outcasts but we’re going to end up on top. Parker is… a deep dive into a dark place. But on the inside Parker believes that he’s doing good and Parker has a love for his crew and a love for his people. I’m trying to dance around the plot because I can’t give y’all the deets! He’s a complex guy and Parker kicks ass.”
So basically, Parker is a complicated villain, not just bad for the sake of being bad, but someone who thinks he’s actually doing good.
On a fun note, it seems like Ironheart has the Iron Man stamp of approval too! Actress Dominique Thorne, who plays Riri, said that Robert Downey Jr. himself (aka Iron Man) told her he’s excited about the show and rooting for her.
“I literally got two thumbs up. It’s really reassuring to know you’re not embarrassing Iron Man.”
Executive producer Ryan Coogler also explained that Riri isn’t trying to replace Iron Man. Unlike other Marvel heroes like Captain America or Black Panther, where the role gets passed down, Riri is doing her own thing.
“This is a character who was obviously influenced by Tony Stark and inspired by him, but she is also very different and doing her own thing.”
So while Ironheart might feel a little familiar to longtime Marvel fans, it’s also setting up a whole new kind of hero for the MCU, one that’s smart, bold, and ready to write her own story.
