According to certification from the China Quality Certification Centre, as noted by ShrimpApplePro and reported by 9to5Mac, Apple’s new iPhone 16 series will support 45W wired charging over USB-C, marking a significant upgrade from previous models.
During its recent keynote, Apple confirmed that the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max all feature enhanced wireless charging capabilities. The official specs reveal that these devices support MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W when paired with a 30W adapter or higher, and Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W.
For wired charging, Apple states users can achieve up to “50 per cent charge in around 30 minutes” with a 20W adapter or higher, using a USB-C charging cable.
Previously, the iPhone 15 models were capped at 30W wired charging. With the iPhone 16’s new 45W charging capability, users can expect faster charge times, provided they use a compatible 45W charger. This development promises a notable improvement in charging speed, although real-world tests will be necessary to determine the actual benefits and efficiency of the new charging standard.
The shift to 45W charging highlights Apple’s commitment to enhancing user experience through faster and more efficient charging technology. As the iPhone 16 series begins to roll out, consumers will be keenly watching to see how these advancements in charging speed impact everyday use and performance.
