Intel shares jumped about 8 percent on Wednesday. The rise came after the company showed off new laptops at the CES event in Las Vegas.

The laptops are powered by Intel’s new Panther Lake processors. These chips are part of the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 lineup.

Intel said orders for consumer laptops will start on January 6. The devices will be available worldwide from January 27.

The new processors are built using Intel’s 18A process technology. The company says this is the most advanced chip manufacturing process ever developed in the United States.

Intel executives said the new laptops will deliver much stronger performance. A big focus is on artificial intelligence tasks.

Jim Johnson, a senior vice president at Intel, said 2026 is a turning point for the industry. He called AI a major opportunity for Intel and its partners.

Intel claims the new chips will be used in more than 200 laptop designs. These will come from partners across the world.

High end versions of the processors can have up to 16 CPU cores. Intel says they offer up to 60 percent better multitasking performance. Gaming performance is said to be over 77 percent faster. Battery life can reach up to 27 hours.

The company also shared plans beyond laptops. Intel said it will launch a new platform for handheld gaming devices later this year.

For the first time, the Series 3 processors will also be used in industrial and embedded systems. These include robotics, smart cities, factory automation, and healthcare equipment.

The success of these products is important for Intel. The company is trying to regain lost market share. Under CEO Lip Bu Tan, Intel is also aiming to prove it can compete again in advanced chip manufacturing and contract chip production.
