Instagram has rolled out a new feature that allows creators to connect reels together, giving viewers a way to follow content in a series format. The update, announced on Thursday, is aimed at supporting the growing trend of “Reels series,” where creators build stories or themes across multiple videos.
The tool, called Linked Reels, makes it possible to tie one reel to another so audiences can dive deeper into related posts. Creators can link both new uploads and older reels, though content shared only with close friends or subscribers won’t be eligible.
When posting a reel, creators will now see a “Link a reel” option beneath the caption field. They can choose an existing reel to connect, add a short title of up to 15 characters, and share. Older reels can also be updated with links later, and creators can edit or remove connections at any time, giving them flexibility to reorganize or refresh their series.
Instagram says the feature comes directly from creator feedback, reflecting demand for tools that make episodic storytelling easier. The company hasn’t given an exact date for a full rollout but expects the option to reach more users in the coming weeks.
By introducing Linked Reels, Instagram hopes to keep audiences engaged for longer and help creators build stronger followings at a time when short-form video remains one of the most competitive areas in social media.
