Toronto Raptors guard Immanuel Quickley had a night NBA fans won’t forget. On Tuesday, he became only the second player in league history to score 40 points, dish out 10 assists, and shoot at least 80 percent from the field in a single game. The first to do it? Wilt Chamberlain, who accomplished the feat three times.
Quickley did it in a 145-127 win over the Golden State Warriors. He played just 34 minutes but still put up 40 points on the dot. His shooting was insane. He made 11 of 13 shots, including 7 of 8 from three-point range, and he went a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line. He also added 10 assists, two rebounds, and two steals.
The Raptors guard sat out the final minutes as the game got out of hand. If he had stayed in, his numbers might have been even bigger. Quickley has been mentioned in trade rumors recently, but after a performance like this, Toronto might think twice. If he keeps playing like this, Quickley is proving he belongs among the NBA’s elite.
