IIHF Women’s World Championships schedule: Dates, times, scores and everything we know so far!

The world’s top female hockey stars are hitting the ice for the IIHF Women’s World Championships, which kicks off Wednesday, April 9 — and this year’s action is heating up in a brand-new location.

For the first time ever, the tournament is being held in Ceske Budejovice, Czechia. Over the course of 11 jam-packed days, fans can look forward to 10 days full of multiple games, all leading up to the championship final on Sunday, April 20.

Canada comes into the tournament riding high after snatching the 2024 title in dramatic fashion, edging out the U.S. in overtime during last year’s final. The Americans, who last took home gold in 2023, are showing up with one goal in mind: redemption.

As usual, the big question is: Can anyone break the Canada–USA stranglehold on gold? Since the tournament began, Canada (13) and Team USA (10) have claimed every single gold medal — that’s 23 in total. Finland is the only other team to ever crash the gold-medal game, finishing with silver in 2019 when they hosted.

But keep an eye on the home team this year. Czechia has quietly become a force, winning back-to-back bronze medals in 2022 and 2023. With home-ice advantage, could they be the next big disruptor?

Stay tuned — The Sporting News has all the key info you need on how to watch the tournament, whether on TV or streaming live.
