Ice sports are having a serious moment in romance stories. Netflix just added to the trend with its new series Finding Her Edge, which premiered on January 22.
The show follows Adriana Russo. She comes from a famous ice skating family. She had left the ice behind. Everything changes when her sister Elise gets injured. To save the family rink, Adriana has no choice but to skate again.
She teams up with Brayden, a top skater with a strong shot at winning Worlds. This decision causes trouble right away. Her former partner and first love, Freddie, is back at the rink. Seeing Adriana with someone else clearly hurts him.
Things get even messier when Adriana and Brayden agree to fake date. They believe it will help attract sponsors and save the rink. What starts as an act slowly turns real. Feelings begin to surface on and off the ice.
Freddie has never really stopped loving Adriana. He tries to give her space. He tries to respect the past. Still, watching her grow close to Brayden is painful. Old emotions rush back for both of them.
Adriana struggles the most. She has always believed there is one right choice in life. Being stuck between two people forces her to accept that there may be no perfect answer. She has to listen to her heart instead of rules.
Brayden also changes. He begins to open up in ways he never has before. Adriana makes him feel safe. For the first time, he experiences jealousy and uncertainty.
Freddie’s journey is about responsibility. He feels deeply for others. He wants everyone to be happy. Over time, he realizes he cannot keep ignoring his own feelings.
The cast agrees that sports romances work because athletes give up so much for one dream. When love enters the picture, everything shifts. Ice becomes more than a surface. It becomes emotional ground.
Finding Her Edge is now streaming on Netflix.
