Lee Hyeri might be heading back to K-dramas soon. On July 24, Korean outlet Sports World reported that the Reply 1988 actress is reviewing an offer to star in a new romance series titled Dreaming of You. If she signs on, it would mark her first drama after wrapping up Friendly Rivalry earlier this year.

Dreaming of You is described as a romantic comedy with a thoughtful edge, exploring how people grow and change across different stages of life. The main character, Lee Jae, is a reporter whose story unfolds through her teens, twenties, and thirties. As a teenager, she was bold and ambitious, chasing her dreams with no hesitation. But in her twenties, the reality of limitations and setbacks dampened that fire, and by her thirties, she finds herself living a safe but uninspiring life—wondering if she’s truly alive or just going through the motions.

Opposite her is Su Bin, a film director who grew up under the strict expectations of his parents. As a teen, he lived according to their plans rather than his own. In his twenties, he finally broke free to chase his own dream, and by his thirties, he managed to achieve what once felt impossible.

The script is penned by Im Me Ri, the writer behind emotionally rich dramas like The Beauty Inside and Doom at Your Service. Like her previous works, this new project is expected to dive deep into characters’ emotional growth and inner conflicts.

Hyeri has been offered the role of Lee Jae, while actor Hwang In Yeop is being considered for Su Bin. Interestingly, actress Lee Yoo Mi was initially in talks for the female lead role but stepped away, clearing the way for Hyeri to potentially take over.

For now, neither Hyeri nor Hwang In Yeop has confirmed their casting, with both stars’ agencies stating they are reviewing the offers. The production team has also yet to finalize the lineup.
