Hugh Jackman has been winning over audiences with his performances in his latest musical, but during one of his recent acts at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, he couldn’t resist expressing his playful frustration with fellow actor Ryan Reynolds over a specific scene in their recent Marvel Cinematic Universe collaboration.
According to the Daily Mail, while sharing his excitement about filming Deadpool & Wolverine, the 56-year-old actor admitted he had a tiny complaint about one aspect of the movie. He joked with the audience not to tell Ryan Reynolds but revealed that despite appearing in nearly every scene together, he was excluded from one key moment—the opening sequence of Deadpool & Wolverine, where Deadpool searches for Wolverine and ends up performing a dance number.
“I’m not complaining, I don’t need to be in every scene,” Jackman said, though he clearly had some light-hearted disappointment over not being included in the dance segment, which features an NSYNC hit.
He jokingly remarked, “Now, that’s fine; I don’t need to be in every scene in the movie, but the one scene that has dancing, and I’m not in it!” Then, he continued with some playful humor, saying, “Now, Ryan, he’s very talented, but dancing?” before adding that he didn’t want to replicate the work of the movie’s choreographer, Darrin Henson. He also clarified that Ryan Reynolds didn’t even perform his own dance moves, with a nod to Reynolds’ dance double, Nick Pauley.
In the spirit of fun, Hugh Jackman later performed the same dance number he was excluded from during his stage act, joined by his trainer, Beth Lewis.
Both Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds reprised their beloved roles in Deadpool & Wolverine, a film that became a huge blockbuster for Marvel Studios. Despite the playful jab at Reynolds, it’s clear that Jackman had an amazing time working alongside his co-star, even if he was a little left out of the dance routine!
