There are tons of amazing PS5 controllers out there, and the default DualSense comes with some pretty cool features. But if you’re someone who’s used to playing on a PC with a keyboard and mouse, you know nothing beats the precision and number of buttons you get from that setup. What you might not realize is that you can actually use your trusty PC keyboard and mouse on your PS5! PlayStation doesn’t shout this from the rooftops, but it’s super easy to get that “best of both worlds” experience. Here’s a quick guide on how to transfer your PC gaming skills to the PS5.
How to use a keyboard and mouse on your PS5
Your PS5 can recognize pretty much any keyboard and mouse, whether they’re wired or wireless, so you don’t have to worry about buying special gear. You can use this setup for many games, as well as for typing messages or browsing the PlayStation Network. Just keep in mind that not all games support keyboard and mouse input—usually, cross-platform games will, but single-player games might not.
Here’s how to connect them:
Step 1:
If you’re using a wireless keyboard and mouse, put them in pairing mode.
Step 2:
On your PS5, head to Settings > Accessories > General > Bluetooth Accessories.
Step 3:
Find your keyboard and mouse in the list of available devices and select them.
Step 4:
If you’re using wired devices, just plug one into the USB port in the back of your PS5 and the other into the port at the front.
Once connected, you can also customize your keyboard and mouse settings by going into Devices settings, but most of the time, they’ll work right out of the box without any adjustments.
Now you’re ready to game on your PS5 with all the control and precision of your PC setup.
