How to prevent Terminal Fort Knot Voidout in Death Stranding 2

Death Stranding 2 is full of hidden surprises. As players explore more of Australia and connect different people (called “preppers”) to the Chiral Network, they might come across a few characters with special missions for Sam.

One of the most exciting hidden missions involves someone known as the Ghost Hunter. This mission leads to a secret and totally optional boss fight. That means you don’t have to do it to finish the game, but if you’re feeling brave and want a bigger challenge, it’s definitely worth trying.

However, this giant boss doesn’t just show up right away. You’ll need to do some specific things first to unlock the fight. If you manage to complete it, you’ll stop a dangerous explosion (called a “voidout”) at a place called Terminal Fort Knot. On top of that, you’ll also earn a Silver Trophy for your hard work.

This mission is especially important if you’re trying to get 100% completion and unlock the Platinum Trophy, the biggest achievement in the game. So, if you’re aiming to make Sam and the DHV Magellan crew proud, completing this secret task is a big step toward that goal.

How to Get the Savior of Terminal Fort Knot Trophy Requirements

To unlock the “Savior of Terminal Fort Knot” trophy in Death Stranding 2, players must first complete the entire main story. This is because Terminal Fort Knot is the last major facility in the game, and the trophy-related mission only becomes available after it has been fully connected to the Chiral Network. Players also need to connect the Ghost Hunter prepper to the network, who is located south of the Data Scientist, just before the snowy path that leads to the Chronobiologist.

To begin this process, players must either deliver a piece of lost cargo to the Ghost Hunter or pick up Sub Order 109 from the Chronobiologist’s terminal and deliver it to him. Once the first delivery is made, Sub Order 110 will become available directly from the Ghost Hunter’s terminal, and completing it will fully connect him to the Chiral Network.

After the Ghost Hunter is connected, players need to raise their connection level with him by completing deliveries. However, since lost cargo for this prepper is rare, players should focus on taking standard orders from the Ghost Hunter himself and nearby preppers such as the Chronobiologist, Pioneer, and Leon Easton at East Fort Knot. Once the Ghost Hunter’s connection level is around 80% to five stars, players will receive a post on the in-game Social Strand System (SSS), notifying them of a new mission.

This post unlocks three new Sub Orders that must be completed to continue the Ghost Hunter’s questline. These missions include rescuing a child trapped in a bushfire zone, delivering a rescued Lyrebird to an animal shelter, and investigating a mysterious moving house to recover rusty Chiral Crystals. Upon completing these, and with the connection level nearing full strength, the Ghost Hunter will send one final message. This message contains the last Sub Order: “Save F8 from a Voidout.”

Completing this final mission successfully will unlock the “Savior of Terminal Fort Knot” trophy, which is essential for players working toward Platinum completion of Death Stranding 2.

How to Save Terminal Fort Knot (F8) From a Voidout in Death Stranding 2

After picking up Sub Order 114, titled “Save F8 from a Voidout,” from the Ghost Hunter, players will need to travel back to Terminal Fort Knot. To make this easier, fast travel using the DHV Magellan is available and won’t come with any penalties. Once you arrive at Terminal Fort Knot, it’s strongly recommended to prepare well, as a hidden boss fight is waiting. For the best chances of survival and success, make sure to bring at least three Blood Bags, a Boost Skeleton for mobility, and powerful weapons like Machine Guns and Quadruple Rocket Launchers.

The next step is to head toward the shoreline at Terminal Fort Knot. In the area filled with floating rubble and black tar, the game will trigger the secret boss battle against the massive Giga BT. This enemy is large and moves slowly, giving players a chance to keep their distance and use ranged weapons to attack safely. One key detail to watch for is the Giga BT’s red, glowing umbilical cord. Shooting it causes the BT to become temporarily stunned, giving players a great opportunity to deal extra damage.

Continue firing rockets and bullets at the Giga BT while dodging its large-area sweeping attacks. As its health gets low, you’ll have the option to use an EX Capture Grenade on its head to capture it, though this step isn’t necessary to complete the mission. Once the Giga BT is defeated, the game will automatically reward you with the “Savior of Terminal Fort Knot” trophy. To wrap things up, be sure to return to the Ghost Hunter afterwards to complete the mission chain and unlock a full five-star connection level with him.
