Fisch just added one of the best rods in the game, Merlin’s Staff, but getting it takes some work. To craft it, you first need the Shard of Time.
To get the Shard of Time, you need three items: Radiant Crystal, Rough Geode, and Cut Gem. All three are found in the Mineshaft area inside the Chasm in Fisch. Once you have them, place each item on its pedestal in the Mineshaft. This will light up the area and spawn the Shard of Time.
The Radiant Crystal is the rarest. To get it, use the Rod of the Forgotten Fang during aurora totem weather. Make three perfect catches, then catch a Legendary fish. The rod’s passive will trigger and give you the Radiant Crystal.
The Rough Geode requires a Spear. Look for piles of rubble with stones and wood. Complete the mini-game near the rubble to get the Rough Geode.
The Cut Gem is obtained from the Minecart in the Mineshaft. Wait for the cart to reach the diversion, then interact with the nearby switch. This will derail the cart and crash it into a wall. Go to the cart and press E to collect the Cut Gem.
Once you have all three items, place them on the pedestal, and the Shard of Time will appear. This is a key step toward crafting Merlin’s Staff rod.
