The documentary Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV has brought to light the toxic environment that many child stars, including those from Nickelodeon shows produced by Dan Schneider, endured during their time on set. The docuseries focuses on the actions of Schneider and exposes the abuse and inappropriate conduct that allegedly took place behind the scenes of popular shows like The Amanda Show, Drake and Josh, and iCarly.
Ariana Grande, who rose to fame after appearing in Schneider’s Victorious and Sam and Cat, has been mentioned in connection to the allegations against Schneider. While Grande was not directly involved in the documentary, clips from her time on Nickelodeon have sparked discussions about the treatment she and other young stars may have faced. Despite being an adult during her time on Sam and Cat, Grande was still very young, and any mistreatment she experienced would have had a significant impact.
The documentary has raised questions about whether Schneider was inappropriate with Grande and other young stars. Clips from the shows, including ones where Grande performs uncomfortable skits, suggest that she may have been subjected to the same inappropriate behavior that led to Schneider’s eventual departure from Nickelodeon.
While Grande has not spoken publicly about her experiences on set, her co-star Jennette McCurdy has been vocal about the toxic environment at Nickelodeon. McCurdy revealed that she was offered money to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) but refused, choosing instead to speak out about her experiences. It’s possible that Grande, like McCurdy, faced similar challenges but chose to handle them differently, possibly by accepting an NDA and trying to move on from that chapter of her life.
