For over two decades, Rick Harrison has been immersed in the world of assessing historical items on “Pawn Stars,” but he has also navigated the complexities of family life. While Rick has been known for placing dollar values on pieces of history at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, he hasn’t always kept his family within the confines of the pawn shop. Despite the common perception that the star of the popular reality series is solely dedicated to his business, he is a family man and has had an eventful personal life, marked by multiple marriages and the joy and sorrow of fatherhood.
In Rick’s first marriage to Kim Harrison, he welcomed two sons into the world – Corey Harrison and Adam Harrison. Corey, affectionately known as “Big Hoss,” is a familiar face on “Pawn Stars.” On the other hand, Adam, while working at the family shop for a period, chose a different path and became a plumber, steering clear of the television spotlight. Rick’s second and longest-lasting marriage was with Tracy Harrison, which lasted from 1982 to 2011. From this union, Rick’s third son, Jake, entered the scene. In 2021, Rick happily announced Jake’s introduction to the “Pawn Stars” cast on Instagram, followed by celebrating his graduation from high school and entrance into college the next year.
However, amidst the family’s journey, tragedy struck on January 19, 2024, when it was reported that Rick Harrison’s middle child, Adam, had passed away at the age of 39. The news confirmed that his untimely death resulted from an overdose, with the Las Vegas Police Department actively investigating the circumstances. The devastating loss prompted Rick to share his grief on social media, expressing deep love for his son and acknowledging the pain of the sudden departure. This marked the second significant loss for the Harrison family in recent years, following the death of Rick’s father, Richard Benjamin Harrison, Jr., known as “The Old Man,” in 2018 at the age of 77, after battling Parkinson’s disease.
