Rihanna and Ronald Fenty didn’t always have an easy relationship. They had times when they didn’t talk or were apart for years. Back in 2009, after a very difficult time when Rihanna was in a troubled relationship with her then-boyfriend Chris Brown, Ronald Fenty spoke to the media without telling Rihanna first. She later said in an interview with Vogue that it felt really weird and strange to hear her dad talking about something so personal like that. She said, “You grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness’ sake! And then he does something so bizarre that I can’t even understand it.”
How did Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, die?
Ronald Fenty, who was the father of famous singer Rihanna, has passed away at the age of 70. He died in Los Angeles after being sick for a short time. People close to him say his family was with him when he died, which is always comforting. Just a few days before, on May 28, Rihanna’s younger brother, Rajad Fenty, was seen arriving at a hospital in Los Angeles called Cedars-Sinai. Rihanna was reportedly in the car with him, but she wasn’t visible in the pictures taken by the paparazzi. Right now, no one has shared the exact reason or the exact date when Ronald Fenty passed away.
In 2012, Rihanna told famous TV host Oprah Winfrey that she had worked on repairing her relationship with her dad, but even after that, they had their ups and downs. In 2019, Rihanna actually took her dad to court, saying that he was using her name without permission to promote a talent company called Fenty Entertainment. But then, in 2021, she dropped the lawsuit just before it was going to go to trial.

Ronald Fenty had three children with Rihanna’s mom, Monica Braithwaite: Rihanna, Rajad, and Rorrey. They all grew up in Barbados, in a small house on a street that is now called Rihanna Drive, named after the superstar herself. Ronald also had three other children from other relationships, Samantha, Kandy, and Jamie. He and Monica got divorced in 2002, the same year Rihanna’s music career started to take off. Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was born in February 1988 and lived in Barbados until she was 16 years old.
The last time Ronald Fenty made news was in early 2023 when he talked to TMZ about Rihanna’s pregnancy. At that time, Rihanna was expecting her third child with A$AP Rocky. Ronald said he was “over the moon” about becoming a grandfather again and was excited to be part of the baby’s life. Right now, Rihanna is still pregnant with that third baby. She and A$AP Rocky already have two sons together, named RZA and Riot.
