Cheney’s health had been fragile for many years. He had his first heart attack in 1988 and underwent a quadruple-bypass surgery soon after. Between 1988 and 2010, he experienced five heart attacks in total. In 2012, after his fifth cardiac arrest, he received a heart transplant.
