Sophia Hutchins, best known as Caitlyn Jenner’s close friend and longtime manager, has sadly passed away at the young age of 29. The tragic incident happened on Wednesday, July 2, when Sophia was driving an ATV (all-terrain vehicle) near Caitlyn’s home in Malibu. While on a residential road, her ATV collided with another moving vehicle, which caused her to lose control. The ATV went off the road and fell over 350 feet into a nearby ravine. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but sadly, Sophia was declared dead at the scene.

Sophia was originally from Bellevue, Washington. She was more than just Caitlyn Jenner’s manager; she was also a businesswoman, TV personality, and a strong voice in the LGBTQ+ community. In 2017, she moved into Caitlyn’s $3.5 million home in Malibu and took over managing her career. Before Sophia, Caitlyn’s ex-wife Kris Jenner had handled her professional affairs for many years.

After graduating from Pepperdine University in 2019 with a degree in economics and finance, Sophia stepped into the spotlight in her way. That same year, she appeared on Good Morning Britain, where she later claimed she was asked inappropriate questions about her personal life with Caitlyn, something she openly addressed online.

Despite constant rumours that she and Caitlyn were romantically involved, Sophia was always clear that their bond was strictly family-like. She often described Caitlyn as a mentor and a parent figure who guided her through her own gender transition during college. Sophia once posted on Instagram, “Love the whole LGBT community, but so tired of rumours that I am romantically involved with Caitlyn. I am only ever with men and only ever have been.” In a heartfelt interview with People, she added, “Caitlyn is a parent to me… I feel so blessed and humbled to be a part of such an amazing family.”

Outside of her work with Caitlyn, Sophia had big dreams of her own. She was the founder and CEO of a sunscreen brand called LUMASOL, which made face-friendly SPF mist sprays. She also worked as the chief executive of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation, a nonprofit that focuses on LGBTQ rights and helps provide support and resources for transgender people.

Sophia’s sudden death is a huge loss to many, not only to Caitlyn and their inner circle but to the entire LGBTQ+ community and those who admired her strength, work ethic, and voice. Her impact reached far beyond the headlines, and she will be deeply missed.
